A Kripalu Open Flow with Millie VandenBroek

Class will focus on cultivating witness consciousness and compassion through a creative and grounding combination of postures and movements. Classes are offered at a beginner-accessible level with options for increasing intensity.

She has relied on an active yoga and meditation practice ever since, through working as a poverty lawyer, becoming a mother, and exploring her creativity as a dance artist. Millie obtained her teaching certification from Kripalu in 2003 and her prenatal teaching certificate in 2010, and has studied various movement modalities that have influenced her yoga practice over the years. Millie currently studies Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction through the UMass Center for Mindfulness and enjoys integrating stillness into her personal practice.

Align & Flow A Vinyasa Moving Meditation

with Kirsten Kapteyn from 108 Monkeys

A 500-hour, YogaWorks/NYC-trained RYT, Kirsten came to yoga 15 years ago as a dancer seeking increased stability and flexibility. With experience she has come to understand that access to deeper self-awareness and equanimity in facing life's challenges is yoga's true purpose and most powerful benefit. Kirsten is a board member and the events coordinator for 108 Monkeys, a New Haven-based, non-profit, yoga service organization with the mission to promote peace and justice by making yoga and mindfulness training more democratic and accessible to all. Currently working with private yoga clients and teaching classes at New Haven Country Club, Kirsten has also taught at YogaWorks/NYC and Balanced Yoga, New Haven.

Kirsten's mixed-level classes reveal her passion for soulful and fun vinyasa flows supported by fluid breath, and her dedication to safe alignment and careful sequencing. Blending techniques and philosophies from various yoga lineages, Kirsten guides her students in the lifelong practice of quieting the mind that is yoga, for empowerment, healing, self-discovery and joy, moving you away from the habitual and reactive, toward the integrated, intentional, skillful and graceful. Kirsten encourages you to go to your healthy edge, where the real pith of who you are can be observed. She leads you through strong poses and into and out of stillness, so that you emerge feeling revitalized and peaceful, connected and whole.

Choosing Joy

with Lauren Mitchell !

One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves and others is the gift of happiness and joy. In this practice we will move through various yoga postures and breath exercises that soften our edges and cultivate an uplifting sense of playfulness. By focusing our attention on joy, we can create a powerful energy that will saturate our own beings and spread to those around us. Through this yoga practice, we will open our eyes to how much abundance, happiness, and joy lies in even the simplest moments. All levels welcome.
